general meeting of the AISL in Weimar - a resounding success

On 14 and 15 May 2010 found the annual general meeting the International Albert Schweitzer Organization (AISL) held in Weimar. Normally, the AISL meeting in Alsace, where it has its registered office, that they had followed this year's invitation to Weimar our association, we felt as a great honor. We were able to welcome guests from all over the world, from Switzerland, Austria, France, Great Britain, the Netherlands and the United States.

This year's AGM was controversial insofar as the AISL had to determine its position on in April 2010 took place in Lambaréné surprising election of the President of the FISL, her foundation. Because this was particularly important agenda item, two Granddaughters of Albert Schweitzer - Monique Egli from Switzerland and Christiane Engel in the United States - agreed to participate in the short term. For us, the encounter with a special highlight of the conference, as well as the acquaintance of Dr. Walter Munz and his wife Jo, who have been with Albert Schweitzer worked in Lambaréné and we know from their insightful books about their experiences in Africa.

The Saturday the 15.05., Began with the Annual General Meeting in Sophia House. As an introduction I could imagine the guests of our club and explain our most important work goals. The Lord Mayor of Weimar, Mr Stefan Wolf, clever greeting was received with much approval.

The event, the reports focused on the work of 2009, and naturally the report from Lambarene about numbers and figures on the achievements, but also came to the problems of the hospital on a particular interest. the afternoon of that day used the conference including members of their free time to visit the Goethe House, or for a trip to Buchenwald, before later to an evening meeting at the Memorial came together. First, a small organ concert hall from Ekaterina Leontyeva provided a very special art appreciation, then the conference tone for a wonderful dinner and a glass of wine from the comfort.

The adoption was extremely friendly and always subject to the hope of a reunion. Many of the guests were first brought to the eastern and expressed high appreciation for the city of Weimar, the welcome in the hotels and the hospitality experienced in our house.

For our team these days were very important: First, we got a deep insight Schweitzer in the international work and direct contact with the respective leaders of other countries, on the other we could make our organization and our work known.

all our helpers who have contributed to the success these days is our gratitude - especially women Lepper, who had already begun months earlier with the first preparations and in recent days, almost around the clock all has taken care of concerns of conference participants. Thank you!
