Story:
Scotland in 2008. The deadly killer virus Reaper (translated: "Grim Reaper" ) rages relentlessly in the country and gathers large population there. The British government decides powerless because of the lack of an appropriate antidote and an emerging pandemic declare martial law to isolate the area from the outside world and to put it in quarantine. As an immediate measure, a giant, invincible steel wall is built, which prevents the infected from escaping into other parts of the country. Amid this chaotic time, it is possible a young mother her little girl, Eden, to save from certain death in which she entrusted with her details of a charge of evacuation helicopter crew. She herself is left behind. The residents of the restricted zone will be left by the careless actions of the army, not the possible survivors evacuated, regardless of their fate. In this sealed off infected area soon there anomie. 2035, the epidemic stops suddenly in the middle of England
Backgrounds:
The preparation of the shooting took five years to complete. The film was shot in South African Rand in Scotland and London. Its production amounted to an estimated 30 million U.S. dollars. According to a statement of the director would have required a budget of 100 million U.S. dollars.
Some parts of the film were presented at the London Frightfest in August 2007. The film opened in cinemas in the U.S. on 14 March 2008 and played there until the German cinema release on 12 June 2008 about 11 million U.S. dollars.
The DVD:
I was in the film version of the Austrian Blu-ray/DVD 10 minutes longer than the German and in a scenic riverside Mediabook with Booklett and gloss surface.
Conclusion:
Doomsday combines the best of many genres, and the greatest films of this genre. Thus reminding the film to a mix of Mad Max, Escape, The Omega Man and Dawn of the Dead. The movie is not Herran the great role models but remains not really far behind them. The film itself is distinguished by its relatively high content of violence and gore (here schonmal by the way a person in any detail over by a tank or grilled alive, for me personally the most disgusting Scene is the one where just said "grilling" is filleted), and by more than a convincing actor. Rhona Mitra is not only hot, but is also a very good actress but the actual sizes in this film are Bob Hoskins and Malcolm McDowell prove their impressive world-class. The story is told not particularly innovative, but good and the highlights of the story are timed well.
My conclusion is therefore
6 of 8 eyes on this film has more than earned and I hope after this term on a sequel!
